Chaâbani et Traoui se connaissent par cœur pour avoir écrit ensemble les plus belles pages contemporaines de l’Espérance Sportive de Tunis. Leur complicité tactique et leur rigueur, éprouvées au plus haut niveau africain, promettent d’apporter une stabilité immédiate sur le banc des Aigles de Carthage.
A 45 ans, Mouine Chaâbani bénéficie d’une légitimité incontestable, portée par une culture de la gagne profondément ancrée. Ancien défenseur rugueux et capitaine respecté de l’Espérance, il avait entamé sa transition vers le banc en tant qu’adjoint avant d’être propulsé entraîneur principal des Sang et Or en 2018. Ce choix s’était avéré magistral : en l’espace de deux ans, il avait réalisé l’exploit d’entrer dans la légende du football africain en remportant deux Ligues des champions de la CAF consécutives, terrassant notamment le géant égyptien Al Ahly lors d’une finale retour mémorable à Radès, tout en survolant le championnat tunisien.
Fort de ces succès, le nouveau sélectionneur national avait ensuite choisi de s’exporter pour enrichir son bagage tactique. Son passage en Égypte sur le banc d’Al Masry, puis son expérience au Maroc avec la Renaissance de Berkane, ont fini de façonner sa réputation de manager rigoureux, capable de s’adapter aux exigences des différents championnats d’Afrique du Nord.
En lui offrant un contrat exceptionnellement long jusqu’en 2030 — année d’une Coupe du Monde historique co-organisée par le Maroc, l’Espagne et le Portugal —, la Fédération Tunisienne de Football fait le pari rare de la stabilité et de la planification.
