Dans le cadre du programme Femmedina, la Municipalité de Mahdia et Cities Alliance, avec le soutien de la Coopération suisse en Tunisie et de la Coopération canadienne, inaugurent le samedi 18 juillet 2026 le nouveau jardin public sur le front de mer de Mahdia, fruit d’une démarche de planification urbaine participative et sensible au genre.
La cérémonie se déroulera de 18h00 à 20h00 sous la forme d’un parcours guidé permettant aux participants de découvrir les aménagements réalisés et les transformations apportées à cet espace en réponse aux besoins des habitantes et habitants.
Ce projet illustre une nouvelle approche de l’espace public fondée sur la participation citoyenne, l’inclusion sociale, l’adaptation aux enjeux climatiques et la valorisation de l’identité locale.
Fruit d’un processus participatif associant femmes, jeunes, riverains, associations, commerçants et services municipaux, le projet a permis d’identifier les priorités et de concevoir un espace plus accessible, convivial et adapté aux usages de toutes et tous.
Le nouveau jardin comprend plusieurs espaces dédiés aux différents usages : Balcon des souvenirs, espace sanitaire accessible, espace de détente, Village des savoir-faire dédié aux artisanes, espace enfants, Agora de rencontres et de lecture, Scène des arts et de la créativité, ainsi qu’un espace Fitness & Vitalité, en plus d’espaces verts et d’aménagements favorisant le confort et l’accessibilité.
Afin d’assurer la pérennité du projet, Femmedina accompagne la Municipalité de Mahdia dans la mise en place d’un plan de gestion et d’animation visant à faire de cet espace un lieu vivant accueillant des activités culturelles, artisanales, économiques et citoyennes.
Mis en œuvre par Cities Alliance, hébergée par l’UNOPS, avec le soutien de la Coopération suisse et de la Coopération canadienne, le programme Femmedina œuvre pour un urbanisme inclusif et sensible au genre, en plaçant les citoyennes et citoyens au cœur de la transformation des espaces publics.
L’expérience de Mahdia démontre que la participation citoyenne constitue un levier essentiel pour construire des villes plus inclusives, résilientes et durables.
