Au-delà des simples dates de concerts, la 51e édition du Festival international Om Ezzine de Jemmel soulève des enjeux passionnants. Elle révèle comment un événement régional peut devenir un puissant moteur d’animation locale, un laboratoire de démocratie culturelle, et le miroir des défis logistiques auxquels font face les villes tunisiennes.
La véritable force de cette édition 2026 qui se tient du 25 juillet au 22 août, réside dans sa genèse. Plutôt que d’imposer des choix artistiques arbitraires, la directrice Leila Ben Dhiab qui a présenté les enjeux de cet évènement lors d’une conférence de presse tenue ce mardi à Sousse, a pris le parti audacieux de concevoir sa programmation à partir d’un sondage d’opinion mené directement auprès des festivaliers l’été dernier.

Cette approche participative a permis de proposer une affiche d’une grande intelligence intergénérationnelle. Le festival réussit le grand écart en s’adressant simultanément à toutes les catégories de la communauté. D’un côté, il capte l’immense ferveur de la jeunesse en invitant les têtes d’affiche du rap tunisien comme Nordo, Jenjoon et Youngr. De l’autre, il réunit les familles autour de valeurs sûres : la ferveur mystique et visuelle du spectacle Ziara, ainsi que la nostalgie populaire portée par le duo nostalgique de Fawzi Ben Gamra et Samir Loussif avec leur spectacle “Bint elhay Om essefsari”.
En ajustant ses choix aux désirs réels de la population tout en coordonnant ses dates avec les grands rendez-vous voisins du Sahel, Jemmel évite la concurrence stérile et maximise ses chances de faire le plein chaque soir.
Le festival hors des murs : un catalyseur social et économique
Les organisateurs du festival d’Om Ezzine ont compris depuis longtemps que la culture ne doit pas rester confinée sur une scène payante. En s’appropriant l’espace public, l’événement s’impose comme un rendez-vous populaire gratuit et fédérateur.
Le grand carnaval du 16 juillet en est le parfait exemple. En faisant déambuler l’art et la fête directement dans les artères de la ville, le festival crée une effervescence qui profite immédiatement aux commerces de proximité, des cafés aux restaurants, dynamisant l’économie locale au cœur de l’été.
Cette volonté de créer du lien social se prolonge sur le terrain sportif. En intégrant des initiatives comme « Jemmel respire le sport » et le traditionnel tournoi de handball dédié à la mémoire de Béchir Salem Belkhiria (BSB) — figure industrielle historique et grand bâtisseur de la région —, le festival tisse un lien précieux entre la mémoire locale, le bien-être de la jeunesse et l’esprit de fête.
Pourtant, cette belle ambition se heurte chaque année à une réalité matérielle difficile. L’obligation d’organiser les spectacles au sein du stade municipal de Jemmel met en lumière la profonde pénurie en espaces culturels dédiés à ce genre de grandes manifestations.
Si le stade offre une solution de repli chaleureuse pour près de trois mille spectateurs, il impose aux organisateurs une logistique lourde et coûteuse. Transformer un terrain de sport en salle de spectacle à ciel ouvert demande de louer des milliers de chaises, de protéger la pelouse, de monter une scène éphémère et de compenser une acoustique qui n’est pas étudiée pour la musique.
C’est pourquoi le la direction du festival se bat inlassablement pour la construction d’un véritable théâtre de plein air pour accueillir les grands rendez-vous culturels. Dotée d’un tel écrin, la ville de Jemmel pourrait enfin pérenniser son festival, offrir un confort digne de ce nom aux artistes comme aux spectateurs, et prouver que la décentralisation culturelle n’est pas qu’un concept, mais une réalité en marche.
