Le présentateur Hamza Belloumi a annoncé ce vendredi 17 juillet dans un post publié sur sa page Facebook, avoir été condamné, aux côtés d’Insaf Boughdiri, ancienne rédactrice en chef de son émission politique « Al Youm Ethamen » (Le Huitième Jour), à une amende en première instance par contumace, puis à une amende assortie d’un an de prison en appel, toujours par contumace. Une affaire qui remonte à douze ans, initiée par la plainte déposée par l’ancien président Moncef Marzouki.
Belloumi explique qu’il pensait le dossier classé, d’autant plus que ni lui ni sa collègue n’avaient pu exercer leur droit à la défense, que ce soit en première instance ou en appel. C’est donc avec surprise qu’ils ont découvert l’existence de ces jugements rendus par contumace.
Il précise qu’ils ont naturellement fait opposition à ces décisions, tout en réaffirmant leur entière innocence dans une affaire qui ne dépasse pas, selon lui, le cadre d’une erreur professionnelle — erreur pour laquelle ils avaient présenté des excuses publiques dès les faits. Il rappelle qu’il s’agissait de la diffusion d’une vidéo de Moncef Marzouki, largement relayée à l’époque sur les réseaux sociaux et par plusieurs sites d’information, et dont il s’est avéré par la suite qu’elle avait été truquée.
