Le Comité général des prisons et de la rééducation a formellement démenti les informations circulant sur plusieurs pages de réseaux sociaux concernant le déclenchement d’un incendie dans un établissement pénitentiaire et l’asphyxie de détenus. Dans un communiqué officiel, l’institution a affirmé que ces affirmations étaient dépourvues de tout fondement.
La même source a souligné l’existence d’une politique de prévention et d’un dispositif de gestion des risques au sein des structures pénitentiaires. Selon la même source, ce système repose sur la maintenance régulière de l’ensemble des installations techniques, notamment les générateurs électriques ainsi que la sécurisation des approvisionnements, grâce à des réservoirs d’eau d’urgence destinés à pallier toute coupure d’électricité ou de réseau hydraulique.
Le Comité général des prisons et de la rééducation a invité le public à vérifier les informations auprès des canaux officiels. L’institution a par ailleurs indiqué qu’elle se réservait le droit d’engager des poursuites judiciaires à l’encontre des auteurs de diffusion de fausses informations de nature à troubler l’ordre public ou à porter atteinte aux institutions de l’État.
