Ce projet s&rsquo;inscrit dans une strat\u00e9gie plus large visant \u00e0 renforcer les corridors de transport transfrontaliers et \u00e0 positionner l&rsquo;\u00c9gypte comme une interface logistique majeure dans la r\u00e9gion.<br \/>\n<\/span>Ce chantier pr\u00e9voit dans un premier temps la modernisation d&rsquo;une section ferroviaire existante de 260 kilom\u00e8tres, reliant Samalut \u00e0 Salloum sur le territoire \u00e9gyptien. Dans une phase ult\u00e9rieure, il est envisag\u00e9 de prolonger cette infrastructure jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 Benghazi, c\u00f4t\u00e9 libyen. D&rsquo;apr\u00e8s les informations rapport\u00e9es par le quotidien \u00e9gyptien Youm7, ce projet r\u00e9pond \u00e0 une orientation plus large des autorit\u00e9s du Caire en faveur du d\u00e9veloppement des liaisons ferroviaires avec les pays limitrophes.<br \/>\nL&rsquo;objectif affich\u00e9 par les sources gouvernementales est double : faciliter le transport de marchandises et am\u00e9liorer la mobilit\u00e9 des passagers entre l&rsquo;\u00c9gypte et ses voisins. Ce maillage ferroviaire est con\u00e7u comme un levier pour stimuler les \u00e9changes commerciaux et favoriser l&rsquo;int\u00e9gration des \u00e9conomies de la r\u00e9gion. Par ailleurs, cette initiative s&rsquo;inscrit dans une dynamique plus large, puisque l&rsquo;\u00c9gypte examine \u00e9galement la faisabilit\u00e9 d&rsquo;une autre liaison ferroviaire en direction du Soudan.
