Le président de la République, Kaïs Saïed, s’est rendu dans l’après-midi du vendredi 18 juillet au complexe hydraulique de Ghdir El Golla, relevant de la Société nationale d’exploitation et de distribution des eaux (SONEDE) où Il y a pris connaissance de l’ensemble des installations de la station, s’attardant sur plusieurs dysfonctionnements dont il a exigé la correction dans les meilleurs délais, notamment en ce qui concerne les relations de la station avec les régions.
Le chef de l’État a également insisté sur la nécessité d’une cohésion totale et d’une coordination permanente entre les différents intervenants, tout en rappelant que toute défaillance dans l’accomplissement des missions engagerait pleinement la responsabilité de son auteur.
Kaïs Saïed s’est ensuite déplacé vers la zone du pont de Bizerte, dans la délégation de Qalâat El Andalous, pour évaluer l’avancement des travaux du projet de protection contre les inondations sur l’oued Medjerda, dont la réalisation est supervisée par la Direction générale du génie militaire. Il a souligné l’urgence de trouver des solutions rapides afin d’éviter que les eaux de pluie, dont le pays a été gratifié, ne soient perdues.
Le chef de l’État s’est également informé de l’état d’avancement des travaux de restauration du pont historique construit en 1608, un monument longtemps délaissé au fil des décennies et transformé en dépotoir. À cette occasion, Kaïs Saïed a déploré le nombre de sites et de vestiges historiques abandonnés, spoliés ou faisant l’objet de trafic, affirmant que « notre histoire n’est pas à vendre » et que « notre avenir est entre les mains de notre peuple ». Il a appelé chaque responsable à faire des droits légitimes du peuple tunisien la boussole de toute décision et de toute démarche entreprise.
