Plusieurs embarcations de la Global Sumud Flotilla ont commencé à quitter le port de Marmaris, situé sur la côte sud-ouest de la Turquie. Par ailleurs, l’ensemble du convoi compte au total 54 bateaux, selon une annonce faite la veille par l’organisation elle-même. Des images diffusées par les médias turcs montrent ces navires déjà en mer.
À cela s’ajoute la présence d’environ 500 militants participant à cette initiative. En sus de ce nombre, ces activistes proviennent de 40 pays différents. D’autre part, le journal Yeni Safak confirme ces chiffres. Qui plus est, la flottille se dirige vers la bande de Gaza.
Par conséquent, le convoi maritime fait route vers le territoire palestinien. En plus de cet objectif affiché, les organisateurs entendent braver les dispositifs de contrôle en place. La destination finale est donc la bande de Gaza.
